Emma Prudom - Children’s Ministry Coordinator
The Elders and Pastor are delighted to announce that Emma Prudom has been offered and has accepted the position of Children’s Ministry Co-ordinator at Wyoming Baptist Church. Emma applied right at the point of our advertising the position, and having been with her through her arrival at WBC and Baptism, it is a wonderful blessing to be able to see her grow further in and with our community.
It was clear from the outset, that Emma was an excellent candidate. She has over ten years experience as an early childhood educator, having been employed at the EarlyON centre at Lambton College and completing diploma and degree studies in Childhood Education during her employment, as well as a graduate certificate in Autism and Behavioural Science. Her working experience is varied, having supported various schools and another church in the area. She also has a number of awards and scholarships that demonstrate her diligence to working with children as well as her willingness to engage creatively. She would describe herself as a pedagogist which, in her own words, is about journeying, with children and adults, to unpack and challenge existing educational practices while discovering and embracing new relational possibilities - something that clearly fits with the ethos of growing children in faith. Her interview was engaging and demonstrated that she not only can craft learning experiences which are fun and exciting, but that she is able to bring people with her on the journey. She stated a desire to continue with professional and theological development, something we have agreed will be part of her work with us. Her references all supported our impression that Emma was an outstanding applicant and our prayer filled desire to see our congregation grow in the way Christ is leading.
We know WBC will support her and encourage her in this God-given work when she begins her employment with us on August 1st 2025, and we want to re-iterate that the ministry to children and families will be under the direct guidance and supervision of her position here; whilst her engagement with the Pastor will continue the process of creating a ministry team at WBC. We are thrilled that Emma sees potential for our church community to grow and know that her enthusiasm and approachability will be vital assets to the work here. We also look forward to the new ideas she will bring, stemming from her own journey in life and faith. She wanted to share a short message with everyone as she enters this new role:
Several months ago, I sensed that God was leading me to consider a new vocational path. I began to pray about this and was excitedly amazed when I became aware of the Children’s Ministry Coordinator position at WBC. As I continued to seek God, I experienced His peace and encouragement to move forward in applying for the position. Throughout the application process and waiting period, I have seen how God has prepared my heart and mind for this new adventure which enables me to weave together my identity in Christ with my passion of serving children and families. During this time, I feel that I have also grown in my ability to trust God and rely on His provision.
I am excited about the opportunity to come alongside children and families as they grow in their relationship with Jesus and also be part of reflecting Christ to those who do not yet know Him as Lord and Saviour. I look forward to partnering with the Pastor, Elders, and people of WBC to explore new possibilities as to how we can continue to reflect the love of Jesus in our community. I am both honoured and humbled that God has called me to serve Him in this capacity and it is my desire to glorify God with the strengths that He has entrusted to me!
